LAKEBREEZE VINEYARD - This Alberta couple searched for a Kelowna House Designer and saw my website and the initial meeting was amazing. What turned out was this Tuscan vineyard estate home that is the show piece of this rolling hill, lakefront estate winery. The owners needed a getaway spot where their love of wine and their appreciation for the lake and hot sun could all come together in a restful panoramic setting. Upon meeting with the owner, I described how we should layout the general plan of their home to take in the full scope of the views. They opened up their scrape book of home design ideas and showed me a sketch of that exact concept. I was hired on the spot as we knew that we were both on the same page and vibe of where the home had to go to be the most effective. The desire to have a pool off of the upper floor was primary, but yet not over powering the view to the vineyard and lake below. I presented them with the concept of a 10 sided infinity edge swimming pool that was half way between the upper and the lower floors. This placed the pool just slightly below the upper level covered patio and gave them an unobstructed view line of the surrounding properties and the lake and mountains beyond. As a result the lower floor covered patio feels like a catacomb cave that offers a windbreak on lake breeze days, yet still gives lake views as you walk by the pool as you can see over top of the pool deck to the panoramic view beyond. I designed the upper floor main entrance with a bridge so that the home would have a basement with full daylight windows and outdoor walking access, thus eliminating full height concrete foundation walls and back filling. The roof top covered wine terrace is perfect for those late night parties and the 5 o'clock happy hour tapas wine sessions.
